The Best of Toy Fair 2026 (John DeQuadros Ed.)

It's time to play.

And just like that, another New York Toy Fair is in the books. You know, I’ve been doing armchair coverage of this show for years now and, as someone who spends just as much time collecting toys as I do writing about them, it’s always exciting to see what’s coming down the pipe from my favorite brands. That’s a dopamine hit that never gets old.  Needless to say, 2026 was no exception to the rule. From Mattel nailing down the master license for TMNT to NECA inking out an exciting new deal with McDonald’s, this year was another fun-filled roller coaster ride that simply refused to quit – and to think, there are actually people out there who find toy journalism boring!

What follows are my picks for the five best reveals from New York Toy Fair – each from a different design house, and each tempting me to buy a bigger place just to make sure I’ll have the necessary space needed to accommodate all the bussin’ bric-a-brac headed our way. What about you? Which reveal had you geeking out the most? Did it make my list? Drop a comment below and let’s talk toys!

5. Denver The Last Dinosaur (Sneak Attack Toys)

Unveiled at the show as a resin-printed prototype, Denver joins Chuck E. Cheese as one of the first figural offerings planned for release by Bull Air offshoot Sneak Attack Toys. Based on the popular 1980s cartoon character created by Peter Keefe, this rockin’ reptile is said to to feature a wide range of articulation and a number of dino-mite accessories, including swappable heads, sunglasses, a guitar, and even a pair of click on kicks courtesy of the coolest sneaker store in cyberspace. Definitely not something I had on my Toy Fair bingo card, Denver looks to be launching via Kickstarter in the coming days – so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

4. G.I. Joe Classified Series Professor Rottclaw & Cobra Deinonychus (Hasbro)

An all-original character created for the Classified line, Crispin Killgore was a child of privilege who grew up combining his studies in paleontology with cutting-edge genetics in the hopes of engineering a real-life dinosaur of his very own. Geared up and packaged alongside a revived Cobra Deinonychus – which looks leaps and bounds better than most mass-market dinosaur figures – Professor Rottclaw doesn’t just add a bit of bite to the Classified Series, but has me swooning at the thought of a possible Dino-Hunters subset sometime down the line! What can I say? You can never have too many plastic dinosaurs on the shelf! Look for pre-orders to go live soon.

3. Star Trek: The Original Series Build-A-Bridge Set (The Nacelle Company)

Touted by company founder Brain Volk-Weiss as “Nacelle’s version of the U.S.S. Flagg,” the upcoming Build-A-Bridge Set will give trekkers the chance to assemble a full-size 1/10 scale replica of the bridge aboard the USS Enterprise. Featuring lights and sounds, the set is comprised of 12 individual sections that connect to span about 2.5 feet wide once fully assembled. As a longtime fan whose made a career out of writing about Star Trek collectibles, this new Build-A-Bridge Set is the sort of thing dreams are made of, and I’ve no doubt it’s destined to make many a fans must-have list here in 2026! Look for additional details in issue #22 of ToyCollectr Magazine, with pre-order and pricing info hopefully beaming down before too long.

2. Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper (Factory Entertainment)

Battlestar Galactica is back in action figure form courtesy of Factory Entertainment, and they’re launching the line in style with a scaled down take on the iconic Colonial Viper! Inspired by the original 1978 TV series, this sleek ship measures an impressive 17 inches long and features an opening light-up cockpit, detachable landing gear, and launch, laser, and turbo blast effects. Also included is a 3.75 inch figure of Lieutenant Boomer. Available for pre-order now, and priced at around $249.99 USD, it’s certainly not the cheapest entry on this list, but still an essential addition to any self-respecting sci-fi shelf!

1. DuckTales Ultimates (NECA)

Life is like a hurricane, and NECA is bringing all the fun and excitement of Disney’s DuckTales to a shelf near you with a brand-new line of action figures! Based off of the beloved '80s adventure series, the assortment kicks off with a trio of two-packs: Scrooge McDuck with Dewey, Launchpad McQuack with Louie, and an especially impressive Gizmoduck paired with Huey. Looking like they just stepped right out of the Disney Afternoon, each set will also include a selection of additional accessories and interchangeable parts. While pricing hasn’t been revealed just yet, we do know these are scheduled to see release at some point in the fourth quarter of 2026 – meaning that there’s still plenty of time to set some gold aside before they arrive. Woo Hoo!
