Welcome to 2026's 31 Days of Heistoween, a daily dose of spooky icons, spine-tingling oddities, and — most harrowing of all — memes. Check back every day from now through October 31 for each daily entry!
I did not grow up with The Worst Witch. It's my understanding that this 1986 made-for-British-TV musical was a mainstay of pay cable channels during the '80s, into the '90s, but I didn't have those channels. Instead, I mainly know The Worst Witch for the one thing that everyone knows The Worst Witch for: Tim Curry's absolutely bizarre turn as the Grand Wizard in the musical number "Anything Can Happen on Halloween."
If you haven't experienced it yet, well ...
This number is an acid trip spurred on by cursed candy corn, one that Curry — the undisputed master of camp horror — commits to wholeheartedly ... even when the lyrics are, well, those lyrics. Even when his getup makes him look like a flying squirrel who joined color guard. Even when the production value makes basic public access TV look like Guillermo Del Toro. Tim Curry makes it all work, and he makes it all feel delightfully sinister.
And with this being the first Halloween season since we lost Tim Curry, what better way to kick off Pop Heist's first 31 Days of Heistoween? Let this video, with its fart-y synths and inexplicably heralded tambourine, set the tone for the next 30 days.
Something spooky is going down now and all month long.
Come knock on our door tomorrow for even more 31 Days of Heistoween treats.
