Heistoween Day 2: The Top 5 Halloween Costumes in ‘The Office’

Bonus points for paper puns.

Michael Scott with two heads

Welcome to 2026's 31 Days of Heistoween, a daily dose of spooky icons, spine-tingling oddities, and — most harrowing of all — memes. Check back every day from now through October 31 for each daily entry!

With the death of calendar-specific television, we're not only losing the Halloween episodes, but we're losing the costumes that come along with it. My favorite sitcom is The Office, and it has a plethora of fantastic outfits across its smattering of Halloween episodes. Here are my favorites.

Jim as Three Hole-Punch Jim

NBC / Universal Television

The Jim Halpert laissez-faire attitude of life was one I was smitten with back in the day. No Halloween costume better shows why I love him more than Three Hole-Punch Jim. It's stupid, it lacks effort, and above all, it's a paper joke. Perfect.

Michael as Two-Headed Michael

NBC / Universal Television

It’s funny to contrast this with Three-Hole-Punch Jim because they both end up looking like low-effort costumes, except Michael has spent a lot of time trying to create the best costume possible. So when his poorly made papier-mâché head fails to deliver the realism he wants, it becomes the perfect punchline.

Pam as Charlie Chaplin

NBC / Universal Television

Pam is not the character most associated with the cringe humor of The Office, but putting her next to Michael Scott's shenanigans often does the trick. This time, she's done it to herself. Pam dresses as Charlie Chaplin, complete with the little moustache and bowler hat. However, without her hat, she looks a lot like Hitler. So her attempt to have a silly little Halloween costume goes so awry that it is adorable and hilarious.

Dwight, Kevin and Creed as The Joker

NBC / Universal Television

For this one, you need to understand just how popular this costume was at the time of the episode. The Dark Knight had been released earlier that summer, and the show capitalized on the enormous popularity of the character with one of its best Halloween jokes ever. Creed enters first with an incredible cosplay, only for Kevin to reveal a considerably less cool version. The cold open ends with Dwight shows up as the last in a parade of Jokers.

Gabe as Lady Gaga

NBC / Universal Television

It's not just that it's an incredible costume, but it's that Gabe is the one who has donned it. There are several examples of characters going all out for their costumes in The Office, but putting one of the most awkward characters into this costume is great.
