Drag Race is now a global franchise, airing multiple episodes every week.* There are dozens of queens werking it out for not just their country's respective crown, but for our attention. Every queen is captivating — but only one of them is a true gem. Pop Heist's Greatest Drag Race Queen of All Time of the Week singles out one special queen from that week's competitors and crowns her for a one-week reign.
The Week: August 4 to August 10
The Episodes: Drag Race France 4x05 "Pop Couture"; Canada's Drag Race All Stars 1x05 "Win to Get In"; Drag Race Mexico: Latina Royale 1x02 "Latin America Has Talent"; Drag Race Down Under vs. the World 1x03 "Whose Wig Is It Anyway?"
The Queen: Fluffy Bidule (France Season 4)
This may feel like a pyrrhic victory considering that this is the week Fluffy Bidule was eliminated from Drag Race France Season 4 — but y'know what? When Pop Heist sees a winner, we're not necessarily looking at challenge wins. We're looking at what really matters: heart (and sickening looks don't hurt). Fluffy Bidule has all of that.
There's a certain kind of queen that appears on Drag Race from time to time, a sensitive goddess who exudes both strength and fragility. You're in awe of her beauty, talent, and grace, but you also want to protect her at all costs. I'm thinking of Moon on France Season 2, or Dakota Schiffer from UK Season 4. Fluffy absolutely falls into this category, but she — of course — brings something truly unique to this archetype: edge.
Fluffy's looks were consistently nothing short of incredible. Look no further than her entry in the Night at the Museum runway category: a drag look inspired by Max Ernst's haunting 1937 painting, "The Triumph of Surrealism."
This look brought judge Daphné Bürki to tears!
But Fluffy also soared in challenges, surprising herself. She won the Rusical by bringing the Mona Lisa to life with equal parts sass and sweetness.
All of this talent comes with a burden, Fluffy's own rough upbringing and her essentially being taught to think of herself as talentless. Constantly discounted, Fuffy internalized that and vocalized it on Drag Race France. But by sharing her story, and by just being so damn beautiful, she left a mark on Drag Race France that will be felt for the rest of the season, if not the series.
